NEW COMMISSIONER TRAINING COURSE OFFERED FOR SECOND YEAR AT PHILMONT TRAINING CENTER

By Tom Hunsaker

A new course launched in 2014 will be offered again during this year’s Philmont Commissioner week, June 14-20, 2015.

The new course, called “Commissioner Service for Non-Traditional or Faith-Based Units”, features a staff of diversified representatives who train Commissioners in how to approach and better serve non-traditional units (Learning for Life, Exploring, Scoutreach, etc.) and faith-based units (Catholic, Protestant, LDS, Jewish, Buddhist, Muslim, etc.). The course was initiated by popular demand over recent years by Philmont participants.

As always, Scouters are encouraged to bring family members with them to Philmont for a great week of family activities while enjoying the Scouting spirit.  Interested Commissioners can register by going to http://www.philmontscoutranch.org/ptc.aspx

Philmont Training Center is the national volunteer training center of the Boy Scouts of America.
